Is THC legal in Minnesota?

Minnesota passed a bill in July 2022 making traditional THC legal in edible form, as long as they comply with certain guidelines. Our highly trained bud tenders can answer your questions and help you discover the perfect product for you.

In August of 2023, Minnesota passed a new bill legalizing cannabis throughout the state, but this law had some unique components that consumers should understand.

The 2023 legalization bill passed by the state of Minnesota legalized the possession of cannabis, along with the ability for Minnesotans to grow cannabis in their homes. This bill also contained social equity components that is intended to begin the process of releasing people who have been incarcerated for non-violent drug offenses in MN. That said, this bill does not legalize the sale of cannabis through recreational dispensaries. Retailers, with the exception of medical dispensaries, are still not allowed to sell cannabis until approximately February of 2025.

In addition, the state of Minnesota has begun cracking down on retailers selling hemp flower, vapes and concentrates. This means that any MN retailer, who is not a licensed medical dispensary, cannot sell any smokeable or vapeable products containing any cannabinoid of any kind (THC, CBD, THCa, HHC and all others). This also includes the sale from out of state retailers or online stores from shipping any of the above mentioned products to Minnesota addresses.

Minnesotans should still be excited. Full adult use, recreational cannabis dispensaries are expected to begin getting licensure and opening for business to the public in the first or second quarter of 2025. Highnorth is expecting to be one of these license holders as soon as we possibly can.

Highnorth's CEO recently did an interview with 93X discussing the current state of Cannabis industry in MN. You can listen to that interview here.
